Brining The Salt (and hopefully pepper) to Wrigley

Jim Hendry, thank you for the time you spent with the Cubs organization.  You were a very likable person and always brought a positive demeanor with you to the ballpark.  I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Now that I have maxed out my emotional potential it's time to address Hendry's replacement.  As everyone who exists on God's green Earth knows, the Chicago Cubs have been "lovable losers" for 103 years (soon to be 104).  Being a faithful Cubbie for my entire baseball fandom I have a vested interest in the future of the organization.  The firing of Hendry is a prime opportunity for the Cubs to make a turn in the right direction.

Go big or go home... Don't settle with an average guy.  We settled with Mike Quade and that was unacceptable.  If you wanna win games you have to bring in the right guys.  That starts from the top down.  As much as I hate the Yankees, I admire them for their fearlessness in spending money on players and taking chances with guys.  Along with that, they, as well as, the Red Sox can develop young talent.  Not only in the minors, but on a professional level.  Starlin Castro is great, no doubt.  However, he needs to be developed at a professional level.  Looking back through past Cub talent, Mark Prior was our last fully developed, MLB ready player... and look where he is now.

The Ricketts need to go out there and pull in a big name, big success, down to business GM.  No more "lets just give this guy a chance" mentality.  We already know how the College of Coaches worked out for the Cubs in the 60's.  Lets not try the College of General Mangers.

A good GM will develop good talent.  Good talent will result in good teams and good teams will win games.  Maybe we can win a World Series in my lifetime.

Cubs fans... Win Big or Die Trying and lets ditch the damn goat
